The Unit was founded in 2010.
The main research interest focuses on the contribution of the sensorimotor representations in cognitive functions; specifically, on orienting of attention, on perception of others’ actions and on space coding.

The main techniques used are the recordings of reaction times and the recordings of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)-evoked electromyographic (EMG) activities, during execution of cognitive tasks.
In 2014 the opening of the Unife BabyLab allowed to start research on the development of sensorimotor representations in two-day-old infants.
